Double Gloucester

Traditionally made in the County of Gloucestershire, in the area of the Cotswolds, Double Gloucester was made using the cream from the overnight milking which was then added to the following morning's milk. It's sister cheese, Single Gloucester used only the one day's milk.

The city of Gloucester became famous for it's cheese fairs where the local farmers would all show their cheeses and compete for prizes. Today, there are agricultural shows thoughout the English shires where cheese makers enter their cheeses for judging.

Somerdale exports a pasteurised Double Gloucester and a traditional cloth wrapped unpasturised cheese, marketed under it's Craftsman label.
